Checking the Airflow of Your Heat Pump

If you find out that there is no airflow in your registers or if there is only a little bit of airflow in your registers, your filters are too dirty. It is a good idea for you to replace the air filters of your heat pump each month when you need to use it during cooler seasons or hotter seasons.
Checking How Often Your Heat Pump Actually Runs
Another thing that you can do to troubleshoot your heat pump includes checking how often your heat pump runs. If you find out that your heat pump is running almost constantly, the setting on your thermostat may be too high. Other problems might also include debris that is blocking the outside unit, a cold draft near your unit’s thermostat and low refrigerant levels. You can fix this problem by resetting the heat pump thermostat. Set the thermostat to a lower setting.
Ensuring the Air Handler is Receiving Enough Power

The air handler may not be getting enough power. In order to make sure that it is getting power we would first check the fan switch. The fan switch is normally set to automatic if that is not the case then we will take further measures to troubleshoot this area of your heat pump. If the blower starts running when we turn the fan switch on your air handler is working properly.
Keeping the Correct Thermostat Settings
You can keep your heat pump working the way that you need it to by making sure that your thermostat settings are correct. Your thermostat settings should change when the weather changes. When you need to heat your home, make sure that the thermostat setting for your heat pump is higher than the room temperature. If you need to cool your home, you can make sure that the thermostat setting for your heat pump is lower than the room temperature. Tripped Breakers
If your furnace is not heating properly it may not have anything to do with the heat pump not working. As a precaution Cooper Climate Control will check the breakers in your main breaker cabinet and in your unit breaker cabinet. It is common that you may not have noticed that breakers have tripped if everything else is working. Our Technician will reset it in order to get your heat pump to work again.
